It's a rainy day crafts day here in Florida

Rainy Day Crafts Days in Florida as Tropical Storm Fay Hits us hard. If you love scrapbooking, rainy days can be a great time to focus on your scrapbook projects.

What a day or should I say what a weekend? The winds came the rain came and now the floods. On Friday 8/22/08 at about 1 AM in the morning the power went out at our house. We could hear the sound of the wind and rain for hours before the lights went out. We stepped out on our porch for a few moments looking out at our pond. The wind was strong enough that it was hard to stand. Our pond was full and overflowing in the yard. I really thought that we were getting the bad end of the storm.
After the lights had been out for about 12 hours our house was getting very hot and we had no way to cool off. To open windows would allow rain to enter our house. After a while we decided that we would leave and go to a hotel. The drive to the hotel was a little tough but we were able to see what the storm had done to others. We saw homes under water and cattle neck deep in the flooding waters of Fay. Things don't look good and I hope that everyone makes it through all of this safely.

I am still in at the hotel and the wind and rain are still ripping. When we left our home the water had not reached a level to threaten our home and there were no trees falling or leaning toward our house. I hope and pray that we get home to find everything as it was when we left.

On the positive side of things, this storm made today a rainy day crafts day for me. There is nothing to do in this type of weather except scrapbooking and when the whole family is together, everyone can give input on the scrapbook pages and photos used in the scrapbook. The one issue you will have if the power is out is that you will have to cut everything by hand. But hey, us scrappers that have been around for a while had no choice but to cut by hand. It's like scrapbooking old school.

So when you have a rainy day, bring the whole family in on your scrapbooking hobby and make it a rainy day crafts day. They will enjoy working with you more than you think. If you are having to use candles for lighting, make sure to keep the candles away from the paper. You could cause a major fire in your home.

We will be heading back home in the morning and I hope that we find everything to be fine.
If you were affected by Fay, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
